Kenya has over 600 kilometres of coastline on the Indian Ocean islands lined with coral reefs. It shares the shores of Lake Victoria with Uganda and Tanzania. It is crossed in its central part by the equator, two thirds of the country are subjected to a climate desert or semi-desert. The highest peak is Mount Kenya which rises to over 5000 meters.
